Founder of Mar Bella Soap Studio

 

I’m Marylí, founder of Mar Bella Soap Studio, a mechanical engineer by training and a maker at heart.

Before Mar Bella, I spent eight years as a manufacturing engineer with a global pharmaceutical company, supporting vaccine production in a highly regulated environment where precision, consistency, and detailed documentation were essential. After taking time away to raise my son, I returned to engineering in Florida, working in aerospace manufacturing.

I never imagined that my engineering background would one day become the foundation for a handcrafted soap and body care business.

Where My Journey Began

My journey began after an accident left me with a broken humerus that required surgery. During recovery, medication caused my skin to become extremely dry, leading me to search for products that could help. But the engineer in me wanted to go further—to understand the ingredients, how they worked together, and how I could create something myself.

So I took a cold-process soap-making class, began studying ingredients and formulations, and started experimenting with small batches at home. What began as a personal need soon became a passion for creating thoughtful, handcrafted products for my family and, eventually, my customers.

The Mar Bella Approach

Today, I bring that same engineering mindset to every formulation. I research ingredients, develop and test small batches, evaluate results, refine recipes, and gather feedback before introducing new products. I carefully select high-quality ingredients from trusted suppliers who provide transparency about their sourcing and origins. Every product is an opportunity to bring together the precision of engineering and the artistry of handcrafted body care.

Inspired by Home 

The name Mar Bella is inspired by a beautiful beach in my hometown in Puerto Rico—a place that holds a special place in my heart. It connects my roots with the business I’ve built and the care I put into everything I create.

What makes this journey especially meaningful is the community that has grown around Mar Bella. I genuinely enjoy meeting customers, hearing their experiences, and sharing my passion for thoughtfully made products. Their encouragement and feedback continue to inspire me to learn, improve, and create.

My hope is that every Mar Bella product brings a little more comfort, enjoyment, and intention to your daily self-care ritual.
